Edgar Family Green Beans and Potatoes

1 pound bacon, cut into pieces
1 large onion, chopped
1 pound fresh green beans, washed and trimmed (leave long)
4 Russet potatoes, peeled and quartered then slice the quarters

1. Fry the bacon in a 3 quart pot until it is cooked but tender. Remove bacon and drain most of the grease but leave a little.
2. Sautee the onions in the bacon grease.
3. Add the beans and sautee them for a few minutes on high heat; then add the potatoes and brown them a bit. Salt and pepper to taste. Add the bacon back to the pot.
4. Turn the heat to low and add 1/2 cup chicken broth or water. Cover and cook for 30-45 minutes, until potatoes are done.
